The wait is over! We're excited to kick off preparations for our next Kid's "Kumite" Tournament!

Our tournament helps VT BJJ students gain valuable competition experience—both for Jiu-Jitsu and for life. Facing challenges with an open mind and fighting spirit builds emotional strength, confidence, and resilience. Every match is a chance to grow, learn, and improve. While we all aim to win, our focus is on learning, camaraderie, and having fun in a relaxed, supportive environment.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE:
Kids Ages 4-5 and 6-7 years old: starts at 9:00 AM
Kids Ages 8-9 and 10-11 years old: starts 9:30 AM
Kids Ages 12-13 years old: starts 10:30 AM
Kids Ages 14-15 and 16-17 years old: starts 11:00 AM

All competitors must pre-register for this event. 

Registration Cost:
Early Registration: $40 (until Saturday, November 15)
After November 15th: $50
Late Payment (After December 1st - if space is available): $80

TOURNAMENT RULES:
TECHNIQUES POINT SYSTEM
Takedowns (Osoto-Gari; Ouchi-Gari; Hip-Throw; Double-Leg or Single Leg, etc.) 2 POINTS
Mount (Hooks in for 3-5 seconds) 4 POINTS
Back Mount (Hooks inside legs for 3-5 seconds) 4 POINTS
Knee on Belly (One knee on belly and other knee off ground for 3-5 seconds) 2 POINTS
Sweeps and Reversals (must control top or side-control position for points) 2 POINTS
Passing the Guard (Open or Closed Guard Passing) 3 POINTS
Advantage (when a technique is almost completed/referee decision) AD
Stalling (will be called after 20 secs and warning) (-1) POINT

Competition Bracket Times:
Kids Ages 4-5 and 6-7 years old: 2-3 mins matches
Kids Ages 8-9 and 10-11 years old: 2-3 mins matches
Kids Ages 12-13 years old: 3-4 mins matches
Kids Ages 14-16 years old: 3-4 mins matches

Kids Age Divisions (Boys and Girls): 4-5; 6-7; 8-9; 10-11; 12-13, and 14-16 years old.
Divisions may be combined depending on the number of competitors and taking in consideration age,
weight, and skill categories.

Kimonos should meet/comply with IBJJF requirements, rules and regulations.
No submissions will be allowed on Kids Ages 4-5 and 6-7 years old.
Submissions will be allowed on Kids Ages 8-9, 10-11 and older.

Techniques Not Allowed:
Ankle Locks; Knee Bars; Toe-Holds; Heel-Hooks; Calf or Bicep Slicer; Spinal Attacks; Standing Guillotine,
Slamming Opponent or any Joint Locks or Wrist-Locks. Bending of fingers or toes, hair pulling, striking,
biting, pressure points or pressure to the neck, eye gouging or groin shots. Arm over the neck on mount.

Disqualification:
-Fingernails and toenails must be clipped. Headgear and wrestling shoes are not allowed. Anyone with any
skin infection will be disqualified.
-Zero tolerance rule of disrespecting, threatening of physical violence, or verbally abusing referees or staff.
Competitor, coach or parent will be escorted out of the building.
